Celebrating a birthday and making it one that the birthday boy or girl won’t forget is sometimes a daunting task. But is it even possible to do while on a budget? Absolutely! All that needs to be done is a little research and planning ahead.

Going Out

A lot of the larger restaurant chains offer birthday discounts or even free entres. Most of them require signing up for their e-mail list but when the e-mail comes offering free grub, it is totally worth it. For example, sign up for IHOP’s emails and receive an offer for a free Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity (or something of equal or less value) during the birthday week. El Torito and The Melting Pot are other restaurants offering deals. Check out restaurant.com to buy gift certificates valued at $25 off of food from a chosen restaurant, and only pay $10 (or less) for them.

Gifts

Companies who sell products will often times offer a coupon on birthdays. John Frieda Hair Care will send big-money coupons through email for their products on birthdays. Along with coupons, Betty Crocker and the makers of Unilever products offer sweepstakes to win big prizes for birthdays. Also, the search engine Swag Bucks adds 50 bucks to the account of the birthday person. And once enough Swag Bucks are accumulated, they can be used to purchase gift cards for anything that might delight the celebrant.

So do some homework and celebrate a loved ones birthday in a way that they deserve. Go out on the town and shower them with gifts all the while saving money. It’s a win-win.
